What is Vestibular Rehabilitation?

Vestibular Physiotherapy is effective in helping those experiencing vertigo, dizziness and imbalance related to a multitude of conditions.

Vestibular conditions that may cause these symptoms include:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
  • Vestibular Neuritis
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Ramsey Hunt Syndrome
  • Acoustic neuroma
  • Labrythine Concussion
  • Vestibular Migraine
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Secondary Endolymph Hydrops
  • Superior Canal Dehiscence
  • Mal De Debarquement

Your Vestibular Physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment and determine which specific treatment maneuvers or carefully prescribed vestibular exercises are indicated and if further assessment is required. Through treatment, Physiotherapy can help to stabilize your vision, improve balance, eliminate vertigo and restore function related to vestibular dysfunction.

What to expect from Vestibular physiotherapy:

Your Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment, including reviewing your medical records, taking a full subjective history, and completing a detailed physical, neurological and vestibular assessment.

Following the assessment, your therapist will discuss treatment options and work with you to set rehabilitation goals. Treatment options and frequency are individualized and dependent upon the individual and the condition.

Re-assessments will help to evaluate progress and guide further intervention. Your physiotherapist is happy to answer any questions you have and will do their best to keep you and your medical team informed.
